about

Recorded in my basement, 13 Sept 1985. Remixed 2020. This entire song was improvised on the spot in one take with guitar and drums, and was never played again! Drummer Greg Gilmore stopped by, and I said "I have some riffs" and fortunately I recorded the whole jam on my TEAC 4-track (drums on one track!), and then went back to learn it so I could overdub the implied bass line and some lead gtr bits. Copied it to 8-track to add vocals. Being improvised it was full of clinkers and clams, and is admittedly a bit lo-fi, but I was never able to capture the song again, so I subtitled it "DEMO" originally. But having TECHNOLOGY now, I fixed a few of the most egregious clams. I also took the guitars/drums/bass back one tape generation, by syncing the vocals from the 8 track with the original tracks from the 4-track rather than using the second-generation copied tracks from the 8-track, got all that? The long bonus jam "Bold Leaps" added at the end of Angle of Attack is from the same day, and same creative method.
